Catapult to be removed from Six Flags New England

Six Flags New England confirmed that they will be removing their S&S Sky Swat ride, Catapult. The ride is the only one in America and is only one of two in the world. The other is Slammer at Thorpe Park. It hasn't been confirmed if the ride is moving to another Six Flags property. If it is, expect it to move to a warm climate park. Like Six Flags Magic Mountain or Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. The ride previously operated at Six Flags AstroWorld, where it was known as SWAT. It moved to New England in 2006, a season after AstroWorld closed for good.

Rumor: Rolling Thunder removal and giga drop tower

Six Flags Great Adventure has hinted at the possible removal of the classic double wooden coaster, Rolling Thunder. The ride opened in 1979 and has consistantly gotten rough over the years. The Rolling Thunder Facebook page posted a post saying ride me as many times as possible this season. Preferably before September. Pretty much telling us it will be either removed or dramatically refurbished. About the drop tower, it is supposed to run on the support structure of the famous Kingda Ka. I went on a backstage tour of Kingda Ka with Great Adventure Online during the 2012 season. Our tour guide said that there will NOT be a drop tower to run along Kingda Ka. We still don't know that. Being a regular at Great Adventure, I will be watching both of these stories closely.
